Employees in the United Kingdom have the right to 5.6 weeks’ holiday per year however some employers give enhanced holiday rights to their staff.

A request for holiday entitlement cannot be unreasonably withheld. An employer also has to pay any accrued but untaken holiday when an employee leaves. The law regarding holiday pay has changed recently, as in some cases it is possible for the holiday rate to be calculated in accordance with overtime and travel and shift payments. Holiday pay can also be calculated in accordance with regular commission payments.
